Ok i been to 3 different shops in last two days inquiring about installing 57H cams in my 06 street bob. All 3 shops tell me the factory stage 1 ECM flash is all i need for these cam's. I have xied's on it aswell. So what going on with the every one saying i need a tuner? Are all 3 these shops bullshitting me? Why don't they say yes i need a tuner and simply sell one to me? Are these shops just that honest or don't the have a freaking clue?

 

All I can do is speak from my HD Stage 1 experience: Rush slip ons, SE ac, and Stage 1 download - bike decel popped all over the place, was embarrassing. Got a Power Vision and checked out the Stage 1 map and it was a pretty lean AFR map. With the Power Vision and others for that matter you will pay more but get more too - your choice.

 

Unfortunately, they don't have a freakin clue.

 

I'd avoid those shops. Do some research, dump the xids, and buy a real tuner. You'll be much happier with the end result.

 

I can't imagine the stage 1 download will be good enough for cams.I have slipons and SE A/C along with the SERT and my bike runs great.Stage 1 with factory download maybe,but certainly not with cams,you need a tuner to maximize your mods.IMO.

 

yes the bike will run with just the stage 1 download. will it be optimal, no. close to optimal. probably not.

 

I'm amazed at the amount of people that spend good money on engine upgrades and then go cheep on the tune. Doesn't make sense to me and I guess that is why I'm getting the same horsepower with my stock motor then a lot of people that have installed cams.
