Question Stage 1 or Stage 2 ???

Got a question, did the cam plate swap on my 05 RKC and put in 203 cams while I had it apart the rest is still a stock 88. Already had the stage 1 download, Screamin Eagle air cleaner set up, Rhineharts with the Ful Sac pipe for true duals, just put on a new K&N air filter. The bike runs great no problems it does seem louder now than it did before the cams. Here’s the question I only have the stage 1 download and I’m getting different opinions on going to the stage 2 download. Some say I need a tuner, some say I need the stage 2 download and some say it will fine with the stage 1 download because I did not go to a big bore just changed the cams. Looking for some opinions, suggestions. Thanks

Anytime you introduce cams into the build configuration, you need a tuner. The factory downloads are designed for SE builds; your exhaust does not fit the Stage 1 download profile. You need to be able to address tuning with a cammed build; get a tuner and buy some dyno time.

Ok which tuner? Something simple to use. Next winter I plan on adding a 95 kit.

"Simple to use" is a relative term. All require computer literacy and a willingness to roll up your sleeves, read and learn by trial and error. Probably the most user friendly would be the Thundermax with the auto tune feature. Many satsified users; you can get pretty close to an optimum tune with the auto tune feature but it does require some user interface; Zippers provides great customer service and has a ton of maps to get you started.

If you want to be more hands on, read a lot and experiment; the TTS Mastertune would be a good choice.

If you are not interested in learning and prefer a dyno tune; talk to your local tuner and see what he/she prefers to work with.
