Default Grip and Handle bar question...2014 FXDB

Hello all,

Just have about 2.5 months with my street bob and will be replacing the handlebars soon (with the new HD chiseled bars). Any tips on the replacement as I will be trying to do it myself. Anyone have the torque specs for the handlebar clamp bolts?

Also, Im going to put the HD get a grip grips...instruction don't say anything about glue on the left grip? Should I use glue on it?

First time I ever do anything like this. (First Harley)

any wisdom offered will be much appreciated...

You didn't say if you were internally wiring the bars so I'm guessing not. Before you take off the brake lever, squeeze the front brake and stick something like a popsicle stick ot a small piece of cardboard where it is swivels. There is a micro switch that activates your brakes and that switch brakes easily. You might want to change to poly bushings when you take the bar off, replacing the rubber ones...they are cheep. I glued my left grip on but I have a 2011 superglide, I would guess the same for yours. Be careful with the master brake cylinder because if it leaks on your paint it won't be pretty. I actually suspended my old bars from the cieling, put the new bars on, and switched things over that way...worked for me

I'm pretty sure the get-a-grips fit into the switch housing on the left and no glue is required. They made them this way so you can reuse if you swap out bars.

A service manual is a good investment. There are YouTube videos showing how to swap bars.

Done. Internally wired HD Chiseled bars and Led Mirrors. I also deleted the stock turn signals.
