91 ultra rebuild. Starter jackshaft bolt.
I have a New Starter ready to install. I have also fitted a new Starter Jackshaft Kit. Unfortunately the long Jackshaft Bolt which screws into the threaded end of the Jackshaft does not fit.The NEW Bolt appears to be a slightly larger dia.
I am thinking that the new Starter is for a different year of Evo hence the Bolt not fitting. Once again any advice much appreciated. Bungo

I think there are three different bolt threads used on different years...you might want one of these...how many teeth do you have on the gear..should be 9 if it is stock and the correct kit

Some of the 89-93 kits come with 2 bolts

Older starters 89-93 had 1/4-20 threads in the shaft where the bolt screws in...newer starters had 10-36 threads...the adapter bolts allow you to use a newer starter with the older jackshaft setup...here is another one.

If I do have to fit an Adapter Bolt will I then have to fit a Retaining Ring on the Shaft.?
