Default 110 mph death wobble.....

Made a few more motor adjustments last night tryin to fine tune everything. Took it out on the highway got it up to 110 and the front end starting shaking violently, shut it down, got it back home took a good look and couldn't find anything to cause it. Nothing loose and everything thing seemed to be lined up properly. So i put her away. This morning i noticed a wet spot under the front caliper but could not find any brake. leaks till i was able to see the back side of the left fork. Major seal leak. I guess it's time to rebuild. Question is should i just upgrade to progressive springs and how much do you think out would cost. Any advice on an affordable supplier would also be appreciated. Thanx Bob.

Springs and seals should run you about $100.

I have always had great customer service with Dennis Kirk. Prices are pretty good too. I have had to return items and it was very simple and hassle free.

Get the Progressive springs. You'll thank me later.

Would the standard spring from Progressive give me the stability I need for higher speeds or will I have to go to a more aggressive spring and what weight fluid would you recommend.

Try a fork brace and a steering damper for lateral stability. Stiffer springs and thicker oil alone aren't going to help you much there.

Ok, found two different progressive kits. The 11-1131 50/80 spring and the heavy duty 11-1536. I'm truly not a constant speed demon but do have a tendency to check it out at times. What is the 50/80 spring rate? And do I have to buy the seal kit seperate?? Thanx again..

I know you are working on your forks, but I was wondering what you are running for the rear shocks. I went through a few sets of shocks including a couple of sets of Progressives on my Heritage due to leaking, or the end actually breaking. Right now I have Works Performance Light Duty. They are by far the best shocks I have had on this bike. I had to adjust how I ride because they work so much better. They are a lot more expensive than Progressive or others but they are the only ones that actually improved the ride. All that being said, I would hazard a guess at getting the light duty springs for a more compliant ride and you could try different fork oils and amounts of oil etc. to fine tune it. I can't think of what they call them but there is something you can put in your forks that also improves the ride. It's made by the same company that makes the vibranator handlebar weights. Ricor or something like that? I haven't messed with my front end yet other than chrome Harley Forks which really dressed up the bike.

Edit.

Intiminators is what they are called

Read up on them. They sound promising but I have never used them.

I think you will be fine with the regular springs.

The seal kit is really just 2 seals.
Depending on how many miles you have on those forks I would take them all the way apart and check the bushings too.

About all I've ever done on a front end is change the fluid... I'll have to get the manual out so I can see all that is affected and determine what is worn or not.. Thanx all...
