Default Screamin Eagle Keihin butterfly carb. Anyone one know anything about them?

I have just purchased a 1989 flhs. As soon as I got it home I started taking things off to clean up etc and I started with the carb as it felt like it need a tune/clean as the bike has been sat a while. While I was suprised to find a Screamin Eagle carb butterfly type. It's running 65 pilot and 160 main jets. I cleaned it all up, checked the settings put all back together and she is now running good. I've never ridden an evo befor this one and I'm suprised how strong it feels.

I have more than one of those...The best setup we have is on my Youngest boys Sportster...Really works good.
That and a K&N air filter, and it is a nice ride.
I have never had one on an EVO, but, I would Not hesitate.
But, I love the old QwikSilver also...the one with no Accelerator Pump...
If it acts strangely, clean/check the airbleed.

BTW That was Known as the Andrews Flowmaster, before it was a S.E. Offering...

I ran one for a while on my FLHT. It is a good carb. Day and night compared to what came on the bike, but I prefer the S&S.

The one I ran did a fine job for a long time. I put 43K miles on it. I suspect I wore it out. I had one on the Sportster too, but could never get it right. I couldn't get an S&S right on that one either. No problem with the EFI, though.

There's a reason they quit making that carb...Vast improvement over the stock carb of that era - YES - but the CV had much more potential that that one ... most folks that I know that used that carb went to S&S and were not sorry ... Never had one myself - but that was the conscientious of opinion of those I know who did. Good luck with it if you keep it - and I do not mean that sarcastically ...

I will change it out as and when but for now it seems to work just fine so I kind of think what's the point. I'm glad it's a vast improvement over the original though. I will get this season done with it then next winter I will do a few mods and replace the carb with a S&S 'E'.

S&S E is way better than the CV IMO.
I had a CV on my bike when I bought it and even took it in to have it rebuilt by a pro and it still didn't run right.

S&S was great right out of the box.

If you want to get rid of yours let me know.
