I've said this before we use to put Pennzoil aircraft oil in motor with a cup of gear oil because an Indy in Louisiana who drag raced Harleys said that was the best thing to do. Never saw any performance benefit one way or the other. The Motor did not implode. You Didn't go any faster either LOL!

I have ran 60wt when temps get to 90 and no bad effects. I also get better oil pressure when its hot. I just let the engine warm up a minute or so to get the oil warm.
HD manual calls for heavier oil when its hot out. I have 200 lb cold compression with ev27, no comp release, and she has always started easy.

Went in to buy some straight 50 wt oil for my bike and my indy flipped out. He started arguing with me about how 50 weight oil was for shovels, etc.. It would "ruin" my evo... Its 80 plus degrees here and my 1989 owners manual RECOMMENDS sae 50 in temperaures above 60F and sae 60 above 80F. We've got 100 degree days coming soon and I plan on riding but, I feel like 20w-50 is too thin for those temperatures. Who is right?
