Default Lifters revisited

Tried the Johnson lifters made for Ultima and fails the Woods cam, heavy spring pressure, hot idle test. Has the sewing machine idle sound but no performance issues, I noticed the quick bleed off time when adjusting them and felt the idle quietness was going to an issue. Ran 3 back to back 6200 rev limiter tests and never faded off like the wounded "B's" that were replaced so the Johnsons will stay in there until I come back from high dollar lifter land which might be awhile, big picture is you get what you pay for.

Someone on here mentioned earplugs is a great diagnostic tool, the plugs would be alot cheaper than big dollar lifters and I do get wind blast in the ears so plugs might be a no brainer

I swapped out some Jim's Big Axel lifters for Johnson lifters last year. They took longer to bleed down than the Jim's, but still noisy like you say. I did notice an improvement (not silent, but I think that the price we pay for high lift) when I put in some Rivera Taperlite push-rods. Maybe it's not all lifter noise?

Yea, hear you on the less moving weight possibility, my SE tubes are huge but the engine was quiet with Harley B's that had other issues.

Like the one you have in your pond but bigger. I'll put another set of lifters in, just tried something different because that is just the way I am.
