1994 FLHTC Seat
I am preparing for my summer trip and trying to figure out new seat options. After a 4000 mile trip a couple years back, I ditched the stock pillow seat in favor of a 2005 seat which is more comfortable but somewhat ill-fitting. I am looking for options whether I have the stock pillow seat rebuilt or a decent option for a different seat. If I get the stock seat rebuilt, where is a good shop? Thanks, Bear

I don't know about getting the stock seat recovered. There are a lot of seats out there. As you know, 91 thru 97 FLT seats will fit, seats for road kings fit as well but are shorter in the nose. You can extend your dash for about $30.00 and gain a wider assortment of seats. I'd check ebay. You can usually find some pretty good deals.

If you call in the Touring forum you will find several seat companies mentioned, including at least one with a lot of supporters. My wife and I have been riding on a Corbin for a decade now and done long trips in comfort. The most significant improvement was not the seat, but custom-built Ohlins shocks! We can travel even further now, in much greater comfort.

I am also looking for a new seat for my 1990 Ultra Classic. I have reviewed all the suggested brands and feel Mustang has the best for the money. There are other choices that are more money, and maybe better. Guess it depends on how long you plan to ride in one day. Funny how some people love one brand, while others hate that brand.

The Mustang fit us the best.....all around good seat.
We thought the Corbin was too hard, but would be great for really long riding days. We typically don't ride a whole lot of miles in a day. The Mustang was much softer than the Corbin, but alot harder than the OEM Stock seat....kinda right in the middle somewhere.
We also have a Heated Harley seat as well. Pretty much soft just like the OEM seat. I only use this seat during the cold months and we typically don't ride much in the winter.
I did think of having the stock seat rebuilt.....but by the price was not too far from just buying a new Mustang seat off of Ebay.

How does the Mustang compare to your stock seat. My stock seat is horrible, but old now. When I get a new seat it won't have those stupid buttons on it, it will be smooth. I don't know why anyone would put buttoms on a seat. Might as well put stones there and make it as uncomfortable as possible.
