Hey guys, I put a Woods cam and low mileage heads off of a 95 and a new carb on a buddies 96 RK, I am having issues with the pushrod tubes leaking at the head. I used SE adj. push rods and all new o-rings,gaskets and seals, it runs great other than the leaking tubes, I have taken them loose and dried them and re-assembled them and it still leaks... do the SE push rods need bigger tubes??...any suggestions?

 

Maybe a piece of old o-ring stuck up in there or some other crud and corruption. Run a dental probe or toothpick up in there. No offense, but do you have the right o-rings in the right spots? Tubes not dinged up? Out of round? Even slightly? The springs seem as tight as they should be? Good luck! Leaks and squeaks suck.

 

No offense taken, New correct o-rings in all three locations on the tubes,springs have good tension, I cant see anything out of the ordinary, its leaking on 2 of the 4 tubes at the head.

 

I had one of mine leak once because it didn't get seated correctly.

 

pop your clips off & drop the tubes. Make sure your "O" rings did not get damaged on install. No slices etc. seat them lightly on the tube & gently push them into place. You should feel them sink into the grooves of the head. Pop the clips back on & fire it up. They need to fit exactly to seal properly.

Are the two that leak on the same cylinder?

Do you have stock breather system or other?
My aftermarket breather system was 1/2-2/3 closed so me engine was building up pressure and that is the weakest point for pressure blowout.

When you seat the head oring put them on the tube push them into the head, you will feel a distinct seat then rotate the tube back and forth like valve lapping.

Also when you replaced the cam did you match all the timing marks up properly. Cam, Crank and Oil Breather? Did you remember to put the breather spacer back in? It is the White hard plastic spacer that fits on the end of the oil breather gear. I forgot mine but it did not disturb the oil breather gear (whew)
