Need some help with a leak from the front pushrod.
After havind removed heads and cylinders, for repaint, I replaced gaskets and assembled the engine again. I paid attention to reassembling not maling mistakes etc. After firing up the engine the front pushrod/front exhaust is leaking oil very much....
I have doubble checked the pushrod gaskets, new cork gaskets, checked the head for cracks, the pushrod assembly etc....
I have simply run out of ideas of where to look... And it pours oil out as if there were no gaskets...
Tried to upload a small videoclip, but could not do this, it was too large....
Thanks
Peter
Did you remember to replace the steel washer in the center position between the cork and the spring. Also the springs get old and set and not give enough push to seal the tube.
we have in the past used an evo top o ring its thicker than the thin middle one and it allows the pressure to increase on the front exhaust and most times it works
the blue rubber seals are also WAY better at sealing than the cork
My pushrods (at the tappet block) used to leak like crazy too. It got so bad it was almost a slow poor down the side of the case to the floor. I replaced all the corks (with new Colony's), all the way around (tappets, heads, and pushrod covers)...and it helped a lot.
It'll still leak a little bit but twisting the pushrod sleeve a bit usually works to seal them up for me...gets them seated a little better. I usually have to fuss with them a little when I do my valve adjustments. After getting them seated...a long ride, with all the heat and vibration, usually seals the deal.
