Default Oil consumption

Took a ride to Talihina Ok. two up loaded down riding pretty hard. 700 miles total, used almost one quart of oil. I was in the lead and none saw any smoke but did say they smelled oil once and awhile. Top end pistons rings and bore all done in the spring. Is this normal consumption?

That's a little more than usual, in my experience. In the last 80+K miles, I've used 1 quart every 1.5K, 2+K, 1K.

Some do, some don't. What a lot of people don't do is replace the valve guides when doing the top end and this is often a mistake. I usually reckon 1,000 miles to a quart is acceptable.
Keep an eye on it as you may find the oil consumption varies so you need to get an average.

Guides were not replaced, I will keep an eye on it with regular riding. Thank you
