Default Stator output question

Does anybody know what stator is stock on my '96 Super Glide? I've read somewhere that the MoCo upgraded to a 32 amp sometime in the '90s.
I'm thinking about adding driving lights and don't want to stress the system.
Checking Ronnie's microfiche, they list a 32 amp as the OEM replacement. Is 32 amps enough to run two extra 35W bulbs?

Thanks.

Watts over volts = amps....which means that amps x volts = watts so 32 amps lets you run a total of 384 watts before the alternator can't keep up.

Head light = 60w
Tail light = 5w
Brake light = 21w
Indicators = 42w
Running lights = 20w
Speedo light = 5w
Rev counter light = 5w
2x auxiliaries = 70w

Total = 228w

You'll be fine...

Good info above, and if you find yourself running low on available watts, you can always switch over to LED bulbs for things like brake and running lights, turn signals and gauges. They use way less juice.

I still like conventional lights for things like headlights, and some of the LEDS have a funny color tone to them, so need to look for the ones that describe the color as "natural" for the gauges, yellow for turn signals, red for brake light.

Some of the white LEDS have that faint blue tint to them, they don't look right. YD

Also bear in mind that the indicators and brake light are not continuous. Your alternator is the same as used on the Glides, if that is any help.

Yes but you have to consider the peak load when calculating alternator capacity as the spikes might kill it.

Impressive Span your an electrician too. Ohms law, current is equal to electromotive force divided by resistance.

The answer without math is yes.

Don't forget the ignition. That's going to take maybe 3-4 amps. And an EFI bike will need another 5-ish for the fuel pump, injectors and ECU.

But, adding 70W for the spots will be fine. The MoCo did that for the dressers, and (as noted) they all have the same electrical system. You can also get LED spots for less current draw. I did.

Watts/Volts = Amps....I was taught to remember this as "World Virgins Association" in 1977....we also learnt Volts/Amps = Resistance or "Virgins Are Rare" daft but its worked for 37 years so far :-)
