we tryed welding the hole and had the side of the seal leak oil as the heat distored the cover its not the best of stuff they use to make them with

The thread i think we are taking about is 8 - 32 - and they make a heli coil and yes we do it on the bike with the cam cover in place - level the bike WITH a level zero - than use a drill with a top level watch the ball and go real slow not pushing let the drill bit slowly pull it in - and not dry lube it up with alloy drill fluid --

my book does not show an 8-32 time sert someone have a link i am interested -- jz

mine were 10/32 but I just foud the studs with 12/24 I did not know they made these I was just thumbing thru the v-twin catalog and seen them just my luck after spending 60 bucks on the timesert

also the part number for 8-32 is 0832 just looked in my book

thanks you helped and didn't even know it my studs are 1/8 inch to long now I know why. there not for my motor the PO must have striped the holes and used these

12 / 24 is an indian chief thread 1922 on - it also is a wooden screen door hinge screw / nut and washer attachment back in the day
