SE Stage II "HTCC" piston and head question...
Hey guys,
Got a question concerning the Screamin' Eagle Stage II 95 cube kit with the HTCC pistons and HTCC CNC ported heads. I beleive they are quong a compression ratio of around 10.5 to 1. Am I to beleive that this would run on pump gas, like 91 octane?[&:]
Thinkin' about going with this, but with a gear driven cam instead of the chain driven SE cam....
Thanks much,
Joe

Well they are to be at 10.5 and most run that with a 211 cam, yes it will run on 91 , but depending on your region heat and elevation will play a part in that, a adjustable ign is a must, or altering timing with a efi program . The 211 is a late building cam, a much better cam to use with is a WOODS TW5 I did a cam swap here a few months ago in a bagger and the results are impressive, with a huge bump in tq arcoss the board , final tq number was 107 or 108 I would have to pull the dyno sheet. Hp was up a bit, bottom end was up 20 for tq most of the pull tapering off at the end to approx 11 + as the 211 dynoed at 92 hp and 96tq and the 5 was at 98 hp and the above tq number. It is a bolt in cam, you need to use roller rockers, adjustable pushrods, clearance the cam chest.
Pump gas still usable on both cam with timing adjustments. A good pipe is required to get the above numbers . His bike had a V&H pro pipe

I had the Stage 2 installed at the dealer before I took the bike home.
The mechanic said I should use premium gas.
It's running fine, the plugs were looking great at the 1000 mile service
The 203 cams pull real hard in the low RPM range, makes passing on the highway
easy in 6th gear - no need to down shift
