Rear pipe glows near head ! 04 Ultra
Bike runs very well. MPG's ok around 42-44. Stock except SE air filter - D&D FatCat 2into1 with Quite Baffle. Stage 1 flash & Techlusion DFO. Was riding with a friend at night and when stopped at a red light he tells me my pipe is glowing red so we pull over and shure as hell the rear is a dull red from the head to about 4 to 5 inch's out, The front is not just the rear so home I go. At the time I was running a Thundermax ecm with auto tune. So I fattened it up a little and same thing happens, OK so I put the Harley ECM back on and added a DFO to richen it up some and same thing again. Alright must be a intake seal so I pull it apart and the old seals looked fine - nice and soft and no evidence of a leak. Injector bad ? , I swapped the injectors to see if it would move to the front, Put in new seals and went for a ride. Same thing, Rear pipe dull red front pipe no color. Plugs look identical and the front pipe dose not glow. You can't see it in daytime only at night. Looking for suggestions - I don't want to mess up my engine. It may have been this way all along but I don't know. Bike has 40,000 + miles and runs well and uses no oil. But this dose not seem right to me. Any others have this happen.

I noticed my rear pipe glowing red after I pulled into the garage for the tonight and remembered this thread. Kinda makes me paranoid about something being wrong. but a search finds plenty of posts about it, some saying it's normal, others saying it's from being too lean.
I will look a the plugs tomorrow and see how they look, and probably see if I can find any intake leaks while I'm looking around.
I have an 07 Low Rider with SE AC, V/H BSS, and a PCIII. Not sure if I should try adding fuel with the PCIII. I was hoping to get by with the pre-canned map from Dynojet until I could get to a professional dyno/tuner, but maybe I'll have to put that higher on my list...
