I have a 07 roadglide that I have done stageone upgrade to over the winter ,I used a terry tvll for fuel management ,the bike ran hot with this device ,but it ran decent ,what bothered me the most was that I could see the rear head pipe glowing red when riding at night so I took off the tvll and replaced it with XIEDS the bike does seem to run a little cooler but I still get the glowing rear head pipe at night ,is this just the nature of the beast or should I be looking elsewhere for another fuel management device ?
my 08 did the same thing without my PCIII havent seen it do it yet....fliped me out the when i saw it i parked the bike untill the new pcIII got there
yeah I know what you mean it freaked me out as well ,but I have been riding it for about 2000 miles combined with both fuel management devices and there doesn't seem to be any ill effects ,the bike runs strong ,but I may have to get a pclll just for my own piece of mind.thanks for replies.
i use a thundermax and never seen my pipes glow. (07 ultra) the tmax has been a good unit for me definetly cooled it down and if you know some about air fuel ratios you can make your own map, or simply turn on the auto tune. do a search on here you will find alot of info on the tmax, you will see some complaints on loss of gas mileage due to the fact that the auto tune's afr is set at 13.0 but you can change it to whatever you want.
I also remember seeing the rear head pipe glowing on my 07 RG and if I remember right, it was also within the first couple thousand miles. I have just about 12k on it now and can't say I've seen that happen anymore. Just recently I also added Nightriders XIED's and it's running alot cooler now, I think the AFR is around 13.8 with them. Also now that I think about it, I didn't see the glow with the stock head pipe, it was when I first added the fulsac true duel kit. And yes, you could light a cig off of it
