Default FLT to FLHS

My Tour Glide is just becoming too much of a bike for me. I have put a lot of work into it, so I decided instead of a smaller bike, I would just try to get this one to more like a FLHS, and hopefully that would be enough. It seems pretty straightforward, remove the Tour Pak, lowers and fairing. I already ordered a nacelle from a FLHS, so I just need to find the headlight bucket and light (I think I have one stashed in the garage). If anyone has done this and can think of any tips or things I may miss, I would love to hear them. Bike is a 89 FLTC-U.

These bikes do look cool without the fairing and all that. The gauge package is different but cool. There's one to the left in this picture. IDK what he used for a headlight.

That headlight on the left is the ABS plastic nacelle that was on the FLHS. I found one on EBay and it's on the way.

Sadly, won't ever be as Low and Nimble, as the 4-speeds... Or I would still own my FLHT..

Ah, I was thinking Road King when you said FLHS. Carry on, and post pictures.

The fairing with the gauges and lights are going to be a thing to change out. I would suggest ditching the tour pak and lowers first and see if that lightens her up enough for you. Those bits are easy to remove and weigh more than you might think, especially with your vintage of bike. Good luck.

I went the other way awhile back. 89 FLHS that I turned into an FLHT.
Now I have an FLHTP which is basically an FLHS. I do have a batwing that goes where the windshield does for long distance rides.

I got the Tour Pack and lowers off, all I can do until the nacelle and headlight come in. I did realize that I'm also going to need the bar with running lights and turn signals, since my turns are attached to the fairing mount. I'll ride it like this until I get parts and a plan of attack for the front.

I hope it works out for you, but to be honest, it's probably still going to be heavy. I've owned an Electra Glide and 2 Road Kings, and while the RKs are lighter than the EG, it's not a whole hell of a lot less. At the end of the day, you'll still have a 750-800 pound bike.
I loved my RKs but ended up selling them and buying a Dyna just because the RK was getting too heavy for me to roll around at slow speeds.
