I need some info andhelp from someone in the know please.
I have an '08 Ultra with 2800 miles on it. This past Sunday I went on a 400 mile run with some friends and thebike maintained a 260-350 degrees Fahrenheit temp on the idiot gauge most of the run. This reading came from the temp gauge I had the dealer install, replacing the air temp gauge when I purchased the bike.
I am running synthetic fluids on the bike. I called the dealer Monday morning and they are telling me that I have nothing to worry about becausethat the '08's run hotter, and since I am running synthetics I have nothing to worry about.
Can someone please either tell me that they are full of s**t or I am, either way I would sincerely appreciate some info on this.

I had the very same thing. Bike is very hot, specially when not taking the highway.
After a lot of consultation with other riders and mechanics I decided to get the stage 1 done. Replaced the mufflers, replaced the airfilter, re-mapped the injection and it indeed does run much cooller.
IMHO definitely worth it!
Good luck,
Dries
You have the same color bike that I have, I forgot to mention on the post that I have done a Stage I, S.E.R.T., K&N, Filter, D&D Fat Cat Exhaust, Dyno.
I will check into the Xieds you suggested.
Once again thanks for your reply.
I have done a Stage I, K&N Filter, S.E.R.T., D&D Fat Cat Exhaust, Dyno. We ran just about all highway miles this past weekend and the bike ran hot in my opinion. I do not believe that it should have gotten that hot. Dealer says nothing to worry about, I have my doubts.
Once again Thanks for your post.
Thats running real hot my 07 bike with stage 1 kit with SERT was running 220 to 270. I fitted a Jagg 6 row vertical oil cooler bringing temps down to 180 to 230 with my dash mounted temp gauge.I have the sender unit mounted in the sump for the temp gauge
You can do a lot with the SERT, but not all dealers will. My dealer said if I bought a SERT he would tune the bike to where the air/fuel ratio would drop all the way down to 14.6:1. Which would cool the bike abunch. Check the thread out mentioned above about IED or XIED. 14.2:1 and 13.8:1 respectivley. Why spend all that money for a SERT if all you want to do is cool it down???.....Oh yeah, there is better performance with the IED or XIED as well.
