Default Cams SE255 in a 103 ci anybody???

I have a Road Glide Custom 103. I understand HD uses the same cam in these as the 96 ci. Would the Screaming Eagle SE 255 be a good touring choice? or are they just good for low end torque?

You should take a look at the Andrews 48H.

The SE255 cam is a low end cam, but falls on it's face after 4k- 4500rpm. It'll make low 80's for hp and low 100's tq. I had it in a 103" Softail, and it did 84/104.

That's typical results. If you don't spend much time over 4500 rpms, the 255is a solid torque cam.

I agree with beau, and djl.
We call it a school bus cam.
If you live below the 4K mark, it'll work fine.
It DOES NOT like much compression, so take care with that.
IF other paths are taken, much larger/broader results can occur, with different cam choices.

My 103 made 87 and 106 with the 255's and a good tune...but they do run out of steam above 5000 rpm..depends how you like to ride..If you are a low rpm guy they work great...I ride a little more aggressive and have gone 107 with woods tw555's I have a set of 255's for sale cheap..

Default Se255'

From the research I have done, I am choosing to have the dealer install them with the 103 kit. Most of my riding will be done in a metro area so I look forward to the low end torque.

I am wondering about 255 or 254E cam too. I wanna stay with HD cam out of the gate. I just bought a 2011 RK 103 power pack. It will have V&H pwer duals, and Monster Rounds, SE tuner, and the ventilator AC with K&N filter.

I need to make a choice soooooon, so the dealer can get busy with my bike- need help.
