Default Cams for 2010 96Ci Fatboy

Hello lads,

So I was about to order a set of T555 Torqster cams from TMan and someone said I should have a look at the Andrews Cams first.

There is a new cam I see - The Andrews 57H

So - I am looking for opinions on the two cams above, or any others you think are what I am looking for.

Basically I ride below 5000rpm - one up, and weigh 140lb ringing wet. LOL!

Thanks guys
Mongrel

The 57 is a high lift 37. The 37 likes around 9.8 compression. I always heard that the 48 is the best bolt in for a stock 96". Should pull fine to 5,000 rpms with tons of low end. Anything else and you should change your compression.

The Andrews 48 has pretty much been the "go to" cam to bolt into a Stage I 96"er but the new Woods 222 looks promising on paper. If a cam only upgrade is the plan, I would pass on the 57 and the 555T and go with the 48. The 57 and 555T like a little more than stock compression.

If you are considering pulling the heads and increasing compression, the 555T would be pretty strong at 10:1.

In all cases, you need a good pipe, tuner and good tune.

Hi Lads,

The plan is to do cams now, then head work later, so I want a cam that will allow me to progress.

I am going to go with the 57h. If it's crap, I can always swap it out.

Still... if anyone drops in here that is running this new cam in a 96, I would love to hear from you.

Cheers

Here is that tman 555 in my friends fatboy. Fatcat and heavy breather. Otherwise all stock. I was impressed, but would have loved to see the pull started at 2k....

The 57 should work great if you plan to upgrade. The 37 does in that situation. It may be a little soft down low, but will really shine when you so a big bore, headwork and the proper compression.
