Unhappy Air shock pressure?

What should my rear air shock pressure be? Ride is currently pretty bumpy at 10 lbs.

DETAILS:
2010 Road King Classic
Riding +1 we weigh about 300 lbs

Thank you very much for the input.

With passenger I'm about the same weight and ride with 40lbs in the shocks on an ultra. I try to make sure shocks don't bottom out on those unexpected bumps.

40lbs... hmm... I had my original shocks that high but was told it was tool high. Someone else here posted they were at around 60, if that's even possible.

There is no single pressure that will please everyone! IIRC you can use up to 50psi, so adjust them a little at a time until you find a setting you both like. Also be aware that many owners find they cannot get a decent ride out of the stock air shocks, especially riding 2-up.

There are plenty of aftermarket alternatives, and many of threads about them on HDF. Be aware that most posters on shocks never mention a passenger, so ignore them! Unfortunately we also get very few passengers giving us feedback from the back seat. Post again if you would like to discuss that further.

Different Years had Different Max Pressures, found running about 50% of the Max is a Great place to start and work it out from there ..

Wow! I am amazed at the response here. Thank you all very much (kwo51, dan conner, JayStronghawk, grbrown, prostar). I really appreciate the input.

I will go with 40 lbs and see how that holds up. It's a low of 10 degrees here in Boise, Idaho, so it's probably time to check the tire pressure as well... brrr...

Thanks again. You guys rock.

look in the owners manual, they have a chart that gives you a good starting point for the weight you are carrying.
