Scammers are listing Black Hills area owners homes for rent without their knowledge. I can see this ending badly when the crew shows up finds it's a scam and has no where to go. There's a F'n thief around every corner, isn't there ?

Well, as long as we have naive idiots like this woman in the world, that doesn't even understand how Craigslist works, there will be successful scams.

 

You are a fool if you send anyone money off of a craigslist ad without having the item in hand, or in this case, meeting them in person, examining the property, and signing a contract with witnesses.

When it comes to vacation rentals, I never rent unless it is from a licensed broker/agent or through a legitimate website like VRBO.com that has guarantees in place for you. VRBO may still screw you over when you show up and find that you have no place to sleep, but you will at least get your money back.


That being said...Sturgis is going to be even more of a shitshow this year, regardless of housing scams. I fully expect to see people sleeping in pup tents alongside the highway.

I went for the 50th and it was unmitigated goober fest attendance had doubled in 2 years since my last visit, I cannot fathom what the 75th is gonna be like with all the hype's that out already.
