Daytona question...

Daytona question...
I'll be in Daytona for bike week for the first time since '89. I imagine it has grown a lot since then so just would like to get a sense of how hard or easy it is to get around on a bike?
Is there ample parking at the major gathering places? Any other tips appreciated.
I'll only be in town Saturday - Monday but just want to have fun for a couple of days. FWIW, I have the full schedule of events posted in another forum but am more interested in getting around.

I've been a few times recently, the parking is really not bad especially if you start early (around 9am). Bikes are moving out of parking spaces regularly. The worst area to try to park is Main Street but there are parking lots on side streets. Just remember where you parked especially if you have a black Streetglide

It really hasn't changed since you were there. If you knew the back streets, they are the same. Of course Robison's is gone but a ride up Rt.1 to Ormond will bring you to HD central at Rossmeyer's. Parking is easy if you don't mind paying, it is better security.
Have fun, you can't help but have fun if you don't sweat the small ****.

Hit all the back streets to get where you are going. I rarely ever ride the main roads during Bike Week, or Biketoberfest.
In Daytona , it's pretty simple, even a newcomer can get around the traffic pretty easy. Most of the roads in Daytona are North to South, and East to West, like a grid, can't get lost.

Get a good map of Daytona area and plan you routes accordingly. There will be some instances where you want to ride in the midst of things for the "Daytona Experience". We manage to find parking at the speedway, just off Main Street and on US1 checking out the vendors.

Have been going since about '85... Best way around, as others have said, is still the side roads, but even the main roads aren't too bad except during prime times. Me...I'm rarely on Int'l Speedway, A1A or Main Street...though I usually do Main Street once just to take it all in. Parking isn't bad depending on how picky you are about lots and spots.
