Default Oil filler cap broke off 94 Ultra classic

I was checking my oil lever the other day & the top chrome piece broke off while the rest of the dipstick is stuck in the chamber. This was the cap model that had the digital temperature read on it. now the wire is broken & the rest of the filler cap is stuck & can't remove it. any advice how to remove everything so I can just buy a new complete filler cap? thanks.

Yikes... considering you don't have an oil pan that is going to be a tough fix. Post this in the Evo section if you want real advice.

'93 was the first year for the oil pan under the touring bikes. OP,can't you just pull out the remains with a pair of pliers? Needle nose maybe?

Tried the pliers / channel locks / vice grips... can barely get a grip on the rubber ring at the top of the spout. don't know why the rubber was so tight but I always had issues removing it before. Unfortunately this time the top piece broke off. don't see a reason any debris should be inside, just need to get the rest of the stem out.

If you have an oil pan just get a new gasket and drop it.

No,I owned a '93 Classic for 10 years.. Chose it over the '92 I went to look at,[for a lot more dollars]because of the new system and the full sized right saddle bag.
Dropping the pan might be his only option now, best to clean it up and check for debri anyway.

If you can't find a way to pull it out you can remove the filler spout where it's bolted to the transmission (the rectangular opening in the lower left of the picture). The exhaust will need to be removed to access it though.
