Back roads at night expect it, back roads in the day expect the vultures. Around here you expect it. I have to tell ya that it's the bear I don't wanna hit. Pissed off bear and there you are all alone in the middle of nowhere...that would be messed up. lol

Remember that many deer hits go unreported, so it is actually worse than reported.

Get some deer whistles and it will at least reduce the risk.

Deer? Here in Los Angeles? The odds are fairly low.

Now as for say . . . Skateboarders? That's an entirely different hazard!

I had 2 go past,2 feet in front of me twice this summer. Both times were a week apart in Northern California during fires. They run all over the place when the forest is burning and I never seen as much road kill as I did this summer.

Where I live in NC I'm seeing way more movement considering it's still summer. Have had two close calls so far in my truck, none on the bikes so far.
