What's it worth?

What's it worth?
I have friends who are in a bit of a tight spot, Christmas and all. It's a two bike family and they want to unload one or part it out.
The bike is a custom hardtail with an Ultima 107 in it and they are torn between unloading it or just selling the engine. Any idea what the engine would be worth? I have no idea what the mileage is. It's either that or sell one of their vehicles.

Is the bike titled? If so it might be hard to separate the engine from the frame considering that there are MCO/MSO paperwork involved.
As far as the value goes, never as much as went into it. Check ebay for past sales (not current prices) because that is what people actually paid for a similar bike. As Rick from Pawn Stars always says "just because people are asking for it doesn't mean that people are paying that price."

Hardtail customs with off-brand motors are usually dirt cheap...As far as the motor itself...is it natural, black, or polished? Makes a big difference in the price...look up what a new one cost...half that would be top dollar...less if you are in a hurry to get rid of it.

Distress and hardship is the wrong reason to sell. It motivates the seller accept any offer and they usually get screwed. It's good for the buyer of course.
Ultima engines don't have a good reputation. Any running bike is worth more than just the engine. If you have to sell just an engine, post a video of it running before you remove it.
Motorcycle parts are generally worth 10% of retail.

Personally I think it was the wrong call, but not my business. Hope it all ends well.

If pricing is inline with a 2019 RKS with the stock motor, I would be all over it provided they are willing to show paperwork with installation miles and as long as it has all the other supporting components. A 131 crate motor stock makes nice power and can be pushed way up with a cam and proper dyno tune later if you want more.
