Well I owned the bike with clear title but I was curious as to if I wanted to sell the motor and transmission what it might be worth. The bike is toast but I am sure that there are still some parts that would be saleable as used parts.

the title goes with the frame, not the engine. The engine is PIN stamped to match the frame number at the factory. I know it would cost more than an S&S probably to buy it from the dealer, but I have no real guess on what it'd be worth. Maybe $50.. you take a check??

Ther is a guy outside of Atlanta that sells lots of salvadged HD bikes/parts. They usually go for around $5K +- for a low miles TC engines/trans. Probably has a lot do to with if any fins are broken/grind marks on the cases, etc.

Thanks Gary... Was thinking that might be around what it would be worth. They tell me nothing was damaged or scratched on the motor or trans. Haven't seen it yet as I am still laid up. A friend has said he thought it would be fixable but from the pics he took of it before it went into storage I am not so sure. Might be wiser to sell for salvage and start over

I hope you're able to recover some of your losses on the bike. It just makes me sick to my stomach thinking about your totaled bike and no collision insurance. Hope you your girl are healing up OK.

I'd be leery of a crank slip after a crash like that. Emergency stops with the rear brake can cause the crank to slip.
