Default Opinions on rear caliper tab

OK SO IM MOVING along with my rigid poroject....i bought a new take off softail caliper...centered the rear wheel spaced everything out...rolls nice....I FABRICATED A SLIDER TAB FOR THE REAR CALIPER....its about 1 1/2" off the frame....its fabbed from 1/4 inch steel plate...whats yours guys opinions of the strength? when the wheel is tightened down think this is enough?...or should i wall it out?...does caliper push down on this tab?...even when wheel is tightened down? hmmm...i value yours guys opinions....figured id ask...whats the typical slider made of? anyone have stock harley pics? i want to be safe...i ride very very hard...plus its a rigid...HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS AND GALS!>...LOVE YALL!

I WILL BE WELDING IT ON BOTH SIDES OF THE TUBE....FULL LENGTH WELDS....THOUGHT ID ADD THAT..

Needs to be a bit beefier the 1/4" will bend over time, been there already....

would i be better off removing the rubber piece on caliper and running heavier plate?...cant squeeze anything thicker in there unless i remove the rubber round dampener

No keep the rubber otherwise the metal to metal will wear quick and rattle. Figure out how deep the 1/4" part goes into the caliper and lay a thicker block like 1/2" on top in tight to the frame as a brace/gusset and weld it in. I'd say about 1/2 of the tab length you have there now and just round it all off

WHAT IF I ADD 2 SIDE PLATES OF 1/4 PLATE?....DO YOU THINK THE PIECE HANGING OFF NOT WALLED IN YELLOW WILL BEND?...ITS STILL ONLY 1/4 THE PIECE IN YELLOW..ITS JUST BETTER SUPPORTED

That's the idea gusset it so the area taking all the torque is supported as close to the edge of the caliper as is practical. Basic math and leverage theory, less arm length you have the less actual pressure the are takes, longer the arm the more torque gets allied to it at the welded joint. Seen them peel open the frame tube at the weld before.
