So what % of a Harley is made in the US and what % is not ?
I have work on harleys as a DIY er since 1983. And even back then I could find the word made in Japan on bike 20 times easily. So it's 33 years later and now I'm hearing the word China too. And I also know Harley has a plant in Indiana. So if only the frame, tins , engine and Dunlop tires are made in the USA . Is it fair to say my bike is made in America 60 % US and 40% import or would you change my % numbers from your own knowledge.
And yes it's still winter !

I've had my '06 for almost ten years now, and just this past fall, when changing a rear tire, I spotted a "Showa" stamp on the rear shocks. So I guess it's not just the front suspension, but also the rear, that is made off shore.
There's a new thread running about Harley batteries no longer having a "Made in America" stamp.
Lots of accessories have a Taiwan stamp.

When I created a new saddle bag last year, I had to order over three dozen individual components, most of which had made in USA stamped on them. I was very surprised to see that.
Today I received the slotted gear shift linkage (a belated Christmas gift) I ordered from Boardtracker HD, also made in USA.

Why do you care? Are you a bigot?
Note: Showa suspensions were used starting in 1981 I believe. Also they have a plant is in the US. Why? HD new owners didn't have the resources or money to develop a better suspension than they had.
