You're a first responder, or just want to look like one?

If you're a 1st responder, and it's OK with your municipality, load it up with strobes and a siren...you're still gonna get cut off. The self-centered, texting a-holes around here barely move over for a huge, red fire truck with sixty feet of flashing lights, sirens, and train horns.

If you are from NY, a volunteer can affix a blue light only when authorized by the chief of the volunteer company where you are a member. That light can only be engaged in emergency operation of that vehicle. The use of blue lights on vehicles shall be restricted for use only by a volunteer firefighter except as otherwise prescribed in a whole bunch of subsections related to police, ems, etc. Basically, unless you are responding to a fire on your bike in your turnout gear, don't do it. I would think your company would have told you that if you were a first responder...

In nys ,a blue front facing light is authorized for volunteer firefighters only.Rear facing blue is authorized for police, fire and ambulances. If you are not volunteer firefighter, expect to be stopped by the police. I think the average motorist woud probably not notice or yield to a motorcycle and you might be putting your safety and that of others at extremely high risk. I don't think your insurance company would be too willing to cover you in the event of a collision.
In other words, not a good idea.....
