Just bought a 2016 Road Glide/ Skeptical
As the title states, I just purchased a 2016 Road Glide. A few weeks back, I purchased a 2012 Road Glide with 35k miles on it for close to $20k out the door. I felt that was a tad bit too expensive, considering the 2016 brand new off the lot was $20k before TTL. Anyways, I went in today to shop for some apparel and ended up going for the 2016 model. It was only 4k more and I will not have to worry how the previous owner treated it. What I'm skeptical of is this, has anyone heard of Harley issuing out a refund check? Or a reimbursement? I told them I would put down $2500 today and they said in order to show equity, that they would need $4k down. They went on to say " In order to help save you from spending 4,500 k, today you will pay the $4,500k up front to show the deposit and then we will issue you a check for $2000, to help keep you at the limit you wanted" Has anyone heard of this? It's the 3rd bike I've bought from there and they've always been kind. I'm just wondering if i will actually get a check. haha I told them I wanted to make sure I wasn't getting burned and they mentioned that car dealerships do something similar often, to help them move a unit out the door.
Thanks
Thanks

Sounds like you put $4500 down to satisfy the lender in good faith money.
Then you get $2000 back after the loan is approved. Similar to taking a title loan.
But you still financed that $2000 so its not a rebate , refund or free money.
What's scary is $2500 disappears in depreciation as soon as you take delivery of your new RG.

I am a bit confused. You bought a 2012 a few weeks back. Did you trade this in, and if you did, what did they give you for it? Are they looking for the loan on the 12 to be paid in full AND money down on the 16? A friend of mine bought a new car when he was upside down on his previous vehicle. Paid off the difference of what they would give him to pay off the note and 0 down as a down payment.

I agree with majority of that. Thanks for explaining. It sounds similar, however today we filled out the paperwork and i told them I would be back Wednesday to pay and trade bikes. So on the paperwork, it shows a $4500 down payment and takes down the original loan amount. So it shows that they did give me a free $2000. But I have no proof of them mentioning a check. Just word of mouth. That's why I'm nervous for Wednesday.
