Default Nearing 1000 mile break-in Service..Question?

About to hit the 1000 mile suggested break-in time, and local dealer wants 360.00 to change some fluids and check some critical points.
That is alot for fluids of which I can change, so do most do their own break-in work, or pay the dealer?

Thx

I paid the dealer. I do my own service now but I considered that first one important enough to let the pro's do it. They know what to look for.

I do all of my own, including the first service. Nothing magical about the first service that merits overpaying the dealer. Surprisingly enough, two years later, and several services later and the bike is running just fine. But it's your money to spend as you like.

You should of negotiated that into the out of the door price for your bike. Along with a free Service Manual. Oh well now you'll know better the next time around!

if you have the tools and knowledge, save your money and do it yourself.

Yes for 60+ years now. Have saved a fortune. I keep a digital log until bike is out of warranty. A pic of the odo, service manual, fluid containers, filter and tools such as torque wrench, belt tension gauge etc. I do a written log of all the interval required checks and the findings when I check the critical fasteners.

I don't think a dealer tech could do better than I do. Also, that I probably do better than a good percentage of techs.

My bikes take me around the north american continent so I want to know what was done.

I don't have either, so I pay them. Not a big deal to me. And they've never charged near that much.
