Default Installing an aftermarket stereo

So I just bought an aftermarket h.u and my question is do I need to buy a new module for the handlebar controls or is there a way to make it work without spending more money?

You might get a better answer if you use the correct forum which is either the touring or better yet the audio forum.

did you buy a car head unit, or one of the "made for Harley" ones like AV Aquatic/Jensen?

if its a car head unit, you will a wiring harness and a mounting kit. if you're ok doing a bit of wiring yourself, you can get a $40 kit off amazon from Metra or Scosche like https://www.amazon.com/Scosche-HD700.../dp/B00G0YQRXO

those kits dont do the automated volume adjustment though, so youll find yourself constantly turning it up n down as you speed up n slow down. biketronics sells a kit that retains the feature, but its pretty costly.

Huh. Never thought of that if I ever decided to change HU's. That IS a nice feature that I would hate to loose.
