I haven't rode regularly in almost 20yrs. I have the desire to buy a sportster. a couple questions: 1 did HD discontinue the laced wheels for sportster? 2 are guys who ride sportsters laughed at? 3 anyone have a nice WHITE sportster with laced wheels for sale?

 

white is my preferred color but I definately don't want the C custom model and don't want cast wheels.

 

You can get the laced wheels and White Gold Pearl on most of the '08 Sportsters.

Yeah...it appears that spokes are not avaiable on the XL 883. You can get them on the 883 Low and, of course, the 883 C comes with a spoke front wheel.

Check with your dealer. I know my local dealers have no problem either swapping them out from another bike or oredering a new set.

 

I just boughta new Sportster 883C which is my first HD and first bike. The Sportster is a very common model for a first HD and bike owner, because it is more affordable and a decent bike to learn to ride on. You may outgrow it. You may not.

If you worry about being laughed at then you probably aren't a real guy and easily intimidated by a$$holes who you are trying to gain acceptance from for some reason.

 

Everybody gets laughed at sometime or another. Having a sportster just gives some people a reason.

 

i'd really like a white 883 with laced wheels i think white looks real good on the 883s

 

Dont worry you'll come up with all types of snappy comebacks to the ribbin you'll recieve. Its all in good fun, I never had anyone EVER seriously mean something they said about riding a sporty. My buddies used to call my sportster a "Shirley Davidson" so I named my Road King "Shirley" in its honor.

"Man when are you gonna get a Big Twin and get off that thing?"
-"Maybe the day you can catch me old man"

"I didnt know Harley used Honda motors?"
- if hes on a Electra Glide "So how do you like that Gold Wing?"

 

I'm sure any dealer will be glad to fix you up.
