Numb Hands
Hi Everone,
I’m new to the HD-Forms. I have a 2003 Sportster 1200 Custom. The question I have is : has anyone ever used a bar snake?(www.barsnake.com) This item is used inside the handlebars to reduce the vibration and hand numbing when cruising. Before investing in this item, I would like to know if anyone else has used this with success, or if anyone has any suggestions for preventing the vibration that causes the numbing.

Greetings,
Have you checked how you're holding onto the grips? Oftentimes changing your hand position will solve the problem. Also, don't grip the bars so hard..another common thing people do that cause their hands to go numb.

I have the Bar Snake on my bike and think it did make a small improvement, not that a Dyna really has a vibration problem I was just curious as to how smooth I could get it.

Ahh,the old solid mount sporty hands going numb problem. Its already been said, but relaxing your grip will help greatly.I use a throttle rocker and love it.It never leaves my bars.

I was considering a throttle lock (never really liked the idea of wide open only during certain potential crisis situations).
So I considered the alternative: brand-new bike with cruise control.
The solution is obvious when you boil the issue down to it's simplest elements.

Yeah, not that my Softie has any vibration problems either, it's just that after a couple hours of hard going, I can't feel my fingertips anymore. Of course, my throttle hand gets the worst (and that hand is important in so many ways). At least with your clutch hand you can let go every now and then and flex your fingers.

Bad idea. I've tried it, too. It's for guys in their 20's who are immortal.
You're right about the cold; good thick warm gloves help.
Seriously, though: cruise-control.

Iso grips or the big foam grips help. Good gloves can help but tight grip is a culprit! There is an add on for hand grips that screw on the end to help dampen vibration but I forget what it's called.
