Was out riding this afternoon. Saw three MC members riding along. On the back of their vests were 3-piece patches. As typical, there were their "colors", top rocker denoting their name... BUT... instead of the bottom rocker indicating territory, it simply read: "PROBATIONARY".

What's that mean and how is a club probationary?

 

The person wearing it was a new member serving a period of probation.

 

Maybe they were out on work release?

 

AH! So the three of them were probationary members of the named club? (All of their vests had the "PROBATIONARY" bottom rocker.) Got it.

I don't have what it takes to ever belong to an MC... but I do find their heirarchy/protocol/etc kind of interesting.

 

I get enough of hierarchy at Medieval Times.

 

I've always wanted to see that...heard it was an awesome show..

 

Perhaps I should have said "governmental system.

 

It is.

 

Some clubs call them Probationary and other call it Prospect.

 

If it was a smaller lesser known MC this sometimes happens if they are involved in a 'patch over'.
