Checklist overkill but if it works for you great. I would check that the paper work is right and all the papers are here. Kick the tires and feel for anything loose. I would be looking at it all along which is an inspection. I would check my oil level. I would ride it cautiously for a few miles as a check ride while remembering that new tires and new brakes aren't always the best. If there were any questions or problems then I would return to the dealership then and take care of what I found or perceived as a problem. I would buy a manual for my specific bike so that most of the questions I pose on here are clarifications of what I thought was in the book. Enjoy your new bike and have fun with your check list. The dealership that I bought my last new HD from does all on your check list and does a thorough check ride.

if i'm selling my bike and some guy shows up with tools and expects to use them for an inspection i would tell him to move on.I guess the guy would also want to test drive the bike.lol.the only way i would allow a test ride is with the money in my hand just incase anything happened.

Most probably wouldnt have as thorough list as you do, but it is your money and your bike. If you do these checks before you ride away, at least you are showing the dealer that you are a detail minded customer. Just give yourself enough time to at least ride it when you pick it up. Good luck, be safe, and enjoy.

"Wear on Brake pads"? I'm thinking they will be just fine on a new 2011 EG. I can see wanting to be thorough but a lot of the stuff on your list doesn't need to be written down and checked off. Things like the mirrors and seat are right there in plain view. I would be looking for any paint or chrome damage mostly. And it IS a good idea to make sure the salesguy and service manager see any defects before you pull it off the lot.
