wiring guru needed!
Ok,...trying to connect a three wire harnes to softail deluxe 2005. I want to connect a mp3/stereo thru ignition switch so I don't have to worry about radio draining batt if left on. the directions I have from after market professional are the Green wire goes to positive terminal on battery, Black goes to ground and white (ignition) should go to a orange and white wire under the seat. Conflicts (of course).....Handy dandy HD service book states the red/blk colored wire is after the ignition switch, red is into switc, no mention of a orange and white wire. I see a orange and white wire and a red and black wire in the harness. At this point, I can relate to trying to diffuse a bomb. Which one????
Thanks in advance

That's pretty vauge. The "directions" from your professional don't state what the orange/white wire is supposed to be...is it supposed to be coming from the ignition switch? Is it coming from somewhere else and you NEED to tie into that specific wire so that the aftermarket unit works properly?
From the wiring diagrams I have available to me at the moment (which isn't for a 2005 Softail anything...) orange/white looks like a wire that is hot only when the key is in the run or accessory position. Looks like it goes to the running lights mostly.
I would talk to your "professional" and seek clarification.

Sounds like you have a hot wire, a ground and a switched wire (maybe for switching a relay?) I'd be absolutely sure of the proper connections before proceding, nothing like watching your wiring harness go up in smoke!

You need to connect it to the white with orange stripe wire down by the battery...same wire I had to connect my Hoppe fairing to
