Question Crack in V&H Heat Shield - Repair?

I found this today while cleaning the bike. It wasn't there during the last washing a few weeks ago.

I've contacted V&H customer service. Is there anything I can do to prevent it from getting worse until I can replace it?

That's a weird one. How old are the pipes?

Is there room underneath to get a bit of that two-part (usually black and white) epoxy putty you find in most hardware stores that dries hard as steel in a few minutes?

I don't suspect the heat will be an issue either.

So what did V&H say? I think I would wait for an answer from them before I did anything.

Thanks for the replies...the pipe is only 10 months old, but it has 11K miles on it.

No response yet from V&H. A buddy recommended JB weld...is it heat resistant?

That's what I'm afraid of. I have to admit that I've been thinking about a new pipe...this might be a good excuse if I don't find a good solution.

Kinda looks like a stress crack. Is the clamp that holds the heat sheild in place anywhere near the crack?

No, it's actually more forward. I've had some weird vibration in the past week...not sure if this is the cause or a symptom of it.
