Default New Breakout owner from Durham nc

Just got a 13 Breakout. Not sure it was the right choice as yes changes have to be made as with any stock bike, but I bought style and it does little with my relationship with my wife. Back Pillion is worthless and the only options with this new model is a $950.00 Corbin 2 up w/ back rests. I also need to change the bars as the neck doesn't work well with a two hour or longer ride. Just ordered Rush slip ons ( budgets a bit tight) with a 1.75 inch baffle. Going for the s&s stealth air intake but need some advice on a efi programmer. Rush mufflers arrive in two days so pulled the oem mufflers today. I only have 540 miles but when I removed my heat shields, my pipes were blue like I have never seen before. Is this normal? If my bike is running lean from the factory, what's going to happen with the new muffs and no programmer? Bike seems to run fine otherwise. Just wanted to introduce myself. Lifetime third Harley. First was a 1991 springer with edelbrocks heads, bub exhaust etc. Second bike a 99 Softail bagger with long shots which did make Sturgis in 99 and 14 years later this new model which is impossible to find accessories for. I'll take it day by day on a budget but any experienced advise would be welcome. Thanks

Welcome to the forum...Yes they run lean from the factory. Checkout FuelMoto one of the sponsors on the forum for a tuner for the bike when you have the $$ well worth it.
Love the Breakout!

I am too old to buy for Style and looks any more. I don't give a **** what others think about me, what I do, or what I buy.

I got the Heritage because I DIDN'T have to change ANYTHING for My Comfort.. contrary to what U or others Think, ALL bikes DO NOT have to be changed out to be a perfect fit.

What U do have to do is know a little about Ergonomics.. That where the U fit the bike from the get go VS making changes that cost $$K's to make the bike fit U.

I have loved nor have I had to change (ONE THING) on the Heritage For Comfort since I got her for me. The seat, the bars, FloorBoards or the Height of her ride needed changed out for me to ride to the store or ACROSS the Country on a 3k mile ride.

Cant say that for the pillion seating for the Wife.. she rides 95% of the time.. the 07 needed the touring seat, touring Sissy pad and FloorBoards.. Cost some $$$ but worth every penny..

TOO bad so many Kids or younger one in here don't/can't stand the leather and/or spots. Cause they are really loosing out on the BEST Softail of All for All-Purpose riding.

My Son bought a new 07 Deuce and new 09 Nt before he bought a 10 St-glide that finally worked for his style of riding. Cost him $15-K more in 3 yrs to finally get it right.

When I buy something and (believe I can afford to buy more than what the average person can in cash). I get what serves my purpose and fits my needs.

I don't need or want to show off, nor do I a bike to Show or blow what I can do or buy. I just get what fulfills my/our needs and ride.

I totally agree with you about the Heritage, I tried a few others before my purchase. I'm not big on the studs and conchos but the ride and comfort came first. I get a little hazing from some friends about the conchos, it's all in good fun. They know it's a nice ride. I'm getting use to them too. The fiancee likes the ride also, can go hours without complaint. Best bike purchase so far.

Welcome from Goldsboro. Check with the softail section but you may be able to run just the slip ons with no programmer (I know you can on touring models) if you're on a budget. Also check out Mean City Cycles for a custom seat mod (its cheaper than a new seat). They get great reviews on here and are located in Maiden, Nc. Good luck with the mods and remember to post pics

I think the Breakout is a great looking bike and would love to have one for shorter trips but my Road King isn't going anywhere. Some time ago HOG magazine had a nice article about the Breakout and pointed out the differences between the stock and CVO models, pointing out the benefits of the CVO. You can do simple things to improve the comfort of your bike with reasonably inexpensive pullback risers and seat mods. Best of luck on a great looking bike!!!

You get a BO for the kool factor & it has plenty. However, all the kool is lost imo the minute you go 2up. If 2up is a priority, it's not the bike for you. I'd be willing to buy it from you for 7K.
