I have never seen that before. I dont even see how that would be possible unless the stroke and pistons was wrong. Did you contact ultima?

pistons don't die... they are murdered!!! lugging usually causes detonation, aka hole in the top. this motorwas running hot, and hard!! more than likely either too much piston to cylinder clearence, or it ran too hot, cuasing the skirt to collapse, and "flipping" like that. almost all the time, that piston goes into pieces, rod looks for some fresh air, and pokes out the case or breaking the cylinder. actually you may have gotten lucky, with regards to damage. but I would bet that rod is bent/damaged as well. also check crank runout after that little event.

Wow - have never seen that before and would be happy to never see it again. Have to agree with the the above poster who commented on heat. that motor (and most definitely that cylinder) was running hot.

I just did, kinda hard to tell from pics was this bike running real lean? that will raise temps. this had to be making lots of noise long before the piston failed. spark knock, piston slap. had to be telling you something was real wrong before that.

Da fuque?

Please give some details about the motor.....Compression, cam, fuel management, etc.

I'm looking at the pictures and I keep saying to myself, "how'd you get the beans above the frank?"

Default flipped

bike was not too lean, plugs have normal coloration and carbon, nothing is showing any discoloring or 'blueing' from excessive heat, but the exhaust valve looks to be cooked as well as the top of the piston
