The Google maps app is always an option. I've never had problems with it.

I've got inRoute and TeleNav on my iPad. My favorite is take a picture of a map where we're going, gas stops, destinations and if I get lost, I don't have to look too much to find where I'm at.

Google Maps - use a set of ear plugs and the turn by turn voice prompts are all you need.

I download the maps of all the areas on my route prior to setting out and while still on my home internet connection to save the 4G data downloads while on the move.

I like Apple Maps, it's easy to use, its free, and I've never had any trouble with it. Google Maps works as well, I just don't use it as much.
