Cable Locks

Cable Locks
What are you using for a cable lock to lock your helmet and or jacket to the bike. Can you use the same one to run though a wheel too?
Would the Master Lock Python cable lock work or is there better?

I just place my helmet on top of the left mirror. Jacket in a saddle bag. At a hotel I'll use a front brake disk rotor lock (in addition to the security sys and locking the forks.) To steal my bike they'd have to use a crane. I've heard thieves will take a bike and knock it over on a trailer and drag it away too. You can only do what you can do.

I used a Python cable lock to secure my bike to a ground anchor before I had a garage, being able too cinch it up and keep it off the ground makes it harder to attack with a hammer. I still take it occasionally when I travel to lock the bike. It might be a little over-kill just for a jacket or helmet, but it should work fine.
I have a lighter cable and small padlock I keep in a saddlebag if I feel the need to lock my jacket and/or helmet to the bike. The best you can do is try to keep honest folks honest.

I normally don't need to lock my helmet to my bike, but once in a while when I go somewhere that just doesn't give me a good vibe about the surrounding neighborhood, I do lock my helmet to the bike. As for my jacket, I usually lock it in my saddlebag (I have a Street Glide) or just bring it with me into the establishment (store, restaurant, mall, etc.)
Here's what I use for locking my helmet (and the cable in the picture is designed for locking your jacket):
It's from Rocky Creek Designs (http://www.rockycreekdesigns.com/) and I bought it from Amazon for around $30 for the kit.
It's the only carabiner-style combination lock I am aware of. I put the lock through the double D rings on the helmet, put the helmet over the right grip on the handlebar, and then put the lock around the handlebar.
I decided to go this route, because I don't like the helmet locks that attach to the crash bars (I think those crash bar mounted helmet locks are an eye sore).
I think the lock is pretty strong and secure, but the cable is only designed to keep away the opportunistic thieves that just want to grab the jacket because they see it sitting on the bike. Any one with a good cable cutter can easily cut the cable.
