Default Spokes

Long story short, I bent the rim on my bike last fall, its a 40 spoke 21 inch wheel. I got a new rim and spokes but i gotta use my existing hub so what I was wondering is when tightening the spokes how do you know when they are tight enough? Thanks

Art of respoking is an art. Different methods of telling if the spokes are tight. Choose one you like. I never trusted my own work.

Your shop manual should give you proper torque specs and sequence. Might can find a video on YouTube as well

Lacing them is easy. Other than that, I let a pro do it.

Tighten one, skip 4, tighten, skip 4... start at the valve stem. Go next one down, and same procedure until you get to the 3rd or 4th spoke at the end of the cluster, depending on how your rim is laced. A torque wrench can help, and remember, tighten to the left, not right.

I raced motocross for a long time, and if I didn't learn how to tighten my own spokes I would have been out a lot of dough...
