Kind of a newbie question but here goes.... Do all HDs from the factory come set up to pass California emissions even if they aren't going to California? That would certainly explain the vast majority of HD riders outside of "nutsville" doing immediate mods to correct these tight standards.

 

That is a good question one that even I would like to know because I know Cars are not set up for CAL if they are not sold here, I wonder if the bikes are??

 

My thought exactly. I knew car manufacturers made vehicles for California specifcally but those cars went ONLY to California. Why would HD make ALL bikes adhere to these standards, it's only one state.

 

Looking at the HD web site, a 2013 Sportster 1200C shows a California emissions option for $100. The same model for 2014 does not show that option, I would guess that for 2014 they include the California emissions on all the Sportster 1200Cs.....I do remember also seeing the 2014s include cats in the exhaust.

While cars are made 50 state, they have to specifically have a ca emissions sticker to be sold in CA

 

I do and without the earthquakes,mud slides,forest fires,special blend gas and a cost of living that is ridiculous not to mention high taxes and an immigration problem that is out of control.Yup I can imagine it.

 

Yes it is nice, but we don't require specially made bikes to do it! ;-)

earthquake................I prefer one every 20 or so years, get to remodel my home and freshen it up. How are those hurricanes treating you?

Forest fires.........more like chaparral fires, no effect on me

Special blend gas, well, again, no effect on me

High cost of living, high taxes........Do you know how much money we make here? The cost of living equals the salary. Cheapest home in LA is probably 400k. Ten years ago that house could be had for 140k. May suck if you did not buy it at 140k but many did

Immigration problem..........I do not see much difference then other states that have different issues. Besides it creates competition. I don't have to mow my lawn, I pay $50 a month from a legitimate gardening company. So I can ride while they mow
