Does anyone like the 88 better than the 96/103?
I wanted to know if anyone was like myself and enjoy the 88 twincam better than the 96/103.. I have owned both and find the 88 is a better bike here's why
1# the 88 revs up faster
2# the 5 speed is way more solid and just shifts nicer.
3# the 88 sounds better
4# the 88s run cooler... Way cooler I think
The biggest thing is they Rev up faster I just think there a better bike.. Anyone agree or am I alone?

My 88 is certainly quieter and runs cooler than my 103. But since the 88 is a counter balanced B motor I think the 103 actually revs faster.

I have an '01 and have ridden a few of the newer ones....I like the '01.
mine's a 95" now but it doesn't run nearly as hot as the later models do.
Mine also has a carb instead of fuel injection...A huge plus!

Maybe a little hotter...But not much.
I did the 95" with Keith Black pistons, Mikuni 42, S/E 211 Cams, shaved and ported the heads myself.
The only reason I used the S/E cams was because that's what I had, I'll probably change them out later, but they run pretty well for now.
The thing hauls *** but is still very rideable around town.
Mine's a Dyna, so I can rev it higher than the counterbalanced motors...I have an '04 Softy/Heritage with a counterbalanced motor, but I haven't ridden it much at all, I don't like it.

Small, but happy.

My 88" is now a 95" carbed bike that I would not trade for any of the newer ones. The crank is forged and not cast, run out on my bike is 0.0015 and I am running gear drive cams, and the cam plate has bearings in it for the cam journals. I can do all the work on my bike, as it is really easy to work on. It runs cooler than the 96, 103, & 110 motors and I get really good gas mileage on long rides.
