Has anyone removed and reused a gas cap medallion and, if so, what did you use to reattach it? I have come up empty on getting a stock replacement adhesive 'star'

I have a H-D motor co one on the fuel cap now. But since I have installed a combo gauge on my RK I want to now cover the stock fuel gauge on the other side. What I really was a plain chrome medallion to cover that side but they do not seem to exist.
