And no, I didn't leave it on top of a gas pump.
My flush mount gas cap has worked perfect for the past 2 years, but now is effin' up. Anyone know if this is a replacement cap from the dealer? I'd call and ask them, but it's 11pm and probably closed. lol

Reason: I got to it before the spelling police did.
Nope, not going to find a replacement cap at the dealer, I needed to replace my flush fuel gauge because some of the silvering flaked of so I beat the bushes on ebay and found a new one for $35.00
Mine were pieces of crap. Replaced them with the 6 Shooter style and love it. They were the biggest waste of money to date.
Mine too! The chrome plating on the escusheon is flaking off. The first time I noticed it is when it ripped my palm open! The guage lasted about 3 months or so.

I just replaced mine last month for the same reason you stated.
I think that the plastic starts to swell from exposure to the gas.
to date I have no issues with the gas cap, I think some of the problem is people tightening them too much trying to make them completely flush.
Except that it isn't tightening them that does it. They only turn 1/4 turn to the flush position. Believe me, snugging the cap before pushing it down is all I ever did. Then one day, when I took the cap off, it completely came apart. Springs went flying, "O" rings went the other direction. It was never the same after that. Then the LED's started going out. The finish on mine was always good though.
