Tire pressure - girlie Question
Hi guys, sorry for another girlie type question, but while getting ready for a big trip (Canada to Texas for the Rot Rally) with a couple of girlfriends, I checked the tire pressure on the front and rear tires and notice a big discrepency between my softail manual and the tire psi recommendation. Both cold, the softail manual says 30 psi front and 38 psi rear, the tires themselves (HD Dunlop D402) say 40 psi front and 42 psi for teh rear.
Should I go with the tire recommendation versus manual?

Not a "girlie" question - a SAFETY question. My H-D Manual Has two different tire pressure values based on whether you're riding solo or carrying a passenger. Rule of thumb: Typically more air for more weight carried. I try to check my tire pressures every time I ride but in any case no less then at least once a week.

Yup, and I will go way out on a limb here and make a good guess that the OP will not be loaded down like she is just headin over to a friends for a day visit. Most people who ride that far will have rain gear, extra clothes, foot wear, gun and ammo and so on. That stuff adds up. Running a fully loaded bike on all day long hauls with tires pumped up to one up pressures will not be safe fully loaded up.
